We are interested in discussing potential Research
Degrees that seek to propose new strategies for reducing the environmental
impacts associated with textile design.
We are interested in research which innovates at a materials and
process level including new technologies such as digital printing,
sonic welding, laser cutting; non-chemical applications such as
needle punching; dye/Print techniques such as exhaustion and natural
dying and reuse and recycling.
We are also particularly interested in research which incorporates
eco design concepts such as short life/long life textile design,
emotionally durable design, ethical production and fair trade, systems
and service design and design for low launder.
There are several members of the Ted project who are experienced
supervisors including Becky Earley and Kay Politowicz.
The current research project ‘Ever & Again’, has
a PhD student attached to it, Kate Goldsworthy. The abstract to
her PhD proposal can be found at http://www.chelsea.arts.ac.uk/courses/research/24882.htm
