Kerri Wallace (BA 2005)
Kerri Wallace began exploring new materials and print techniques at Chelsea, and has now become a PhD candidate looking at new eco-friendly laser techniques for textile design and colouration.
Since graduating from Chelsea, Kerri completed the Textile Futures MA at CSM, and has since been developing a body of work that centres around the research and development of new materials, existing and emerging technologies, smart textiles and investigative approaches in printed textile design. Earlier projects include 'Motion Response Sportswear' - exploring the potential for wearable displays and responsive apparel using thermochromic and liquid crystal materials via analogue and digital printing methods.
Kerri is now doing a PhD funded by AHRC/Loughborough University/Society of Dyers & Colourists, exploring the possibility of developing a commercially successful laser-dye method, where laser technology is combined with colouration techniques, as a more environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional textile patterning.
